…rt of this has to do with having a day job beyond writing and simply not having the time to devote. But the part I’ve grown to respect is actually getting something down and then revisiting it later with a “different” set of eyes. That is, a different mindset, perhaps. I’ve found this has helped a number of posts I’ve written in recent years.

This is why I’ve always felt lucky to be able to have articles published in places I respect, without having to dedicate my life to being a full time journalist.
It’s a real privelege to be able to take time on drafts — and I think can offer a lot of value to publications stuck in the hamster wheel of the news cycle, and the cocaine-laced bottle of traffic and advertising metrics.
